Native American psychedelic southern california folk, jazz, rock, blues, country, soul music. That's about the only way to describe Jimmy Stallings album first released in 1969. Even that is probably leaveing out a style or two! Recorded under the name: J.J.light---you'll have to ask Stallings about that-the disk was an underground groundbreaker that has been conveted by collectors and these years. Utilizing some of the finest studio musicans in Los Angeles----allot of the same players from---Phil Spector,Beach boys and Byrds sessions---the singer---song writer took a lifetime of memories growing up in New Mexico, Not to mention a searing stint as bassist in the Sir Dauglas Quintet circa the "Mendocino" years, and created a classic collection of songs. They sound like nothing recorded before or since is the testament to the imagination and determination of one flat---out "Musical Maverick" The history books can go on and on raving about the superstar or that genus,But Hey Ya proves none of them can out do "Jimmy Stallings" This is one compadre ruled by the skies and afraid of nothing! LONG MAY HE SHINE.
